Main Camp

Main Camp Information

The camp price is $315 per week per child and will be billed on the April member invoice, which you’ll receive in May.  The price will be prorated for Week 1 due to the shortened week and Week 2 due to the July 4 holiday.

For children in Main Camp (called “Camp” from here on out), camp will be held from 8:30 am – 1:00 pm each day with an option to extend your child’s day until 2:00 pm for an additional fee. Registration for this additional hour- “Kids Hour” is below camp sign up each week. See more information below.

The cost of camp includes all fees with the exception of children who require swim lessons (see more details below).  Children who need swim lessons will be billed separately at a cost of $50 per week (Week 2 prorated).

All campers will have daily swimming (either lessons or swim practice) in addition to tennis four times per week.  Campers who swim with the Bandits and Banditos will also have the opportunity to participate in camp dive.

There will be various specials each week as well. These specials are huge crowd pleasers and include Animal Embassy, Mad Science, pool games and sports days.  (2020 Calendar coming soon!) Please see below for details on camp aquatics and tennis.

Camp Aquatics

Campers will be grouped based on swimming ability. There is a $50 weekly fee for the first 3 swim levels. Please note, there is no additional charge for green or blue swim levels. We will hold swim evaluations at the beginning of camp for all campers who will be grouped as follows:

Red– Our least experienced swimmers will have lessons in the shallow end of the pool. There is a 1:1 ratio for these campers when they are in the water. When they are not with an instructor, they sit on the side of the pool with the counselors. There is a $50 charge per week. Red Swimmers will receive a weekly certificate that highlights their progress throughout the summer.

Orange– These campers have some pool experience, but still need more formal lessons. Orange swimmers have a 3:1 ratio in the pool. They will receive a weekly certificate that highlights their progress throughout the summer. There is a $50 a week charge.

Yellow– These campers may have passed the swim test, but are working on their strokes and stamina in the water before moving onto the next level. Yellow swimmers have a 3:1 ratio in the pool. They will receive a weekly certificate that highlights their progress throughout the summer. There is a $50 a week charge.

Green– These campers have passed the swim test and have the strength and endurance to swim laps with proper breathing, but are not yet ready for Bandits. Green swimmers swim with the Banditos. They must be able to swim a lap freestyle, as well as a lap backstroke. There is no additional charge for swimming with this group during camp; however if your child participates in weeks outside of camp there will be a Banditos charge.

Blue– Blue Swimmers practice with The Bandits (team swim). There is no charge for participating during camp, however if your child swims outside of camp or participates in meets there will be a team charge.

Our Banditos coach and lessons coordinator, Todd Stevens, has organized a curriculum for the campers:

The New Canaan Field Club camp lesson program is designed to develop the campers in aquatics so that they may be safe around the pool, learn to swim and ultimately develop their swimming skills so that they may be well equipped to handle the Banditos swim practice, or if they wish, pursue water polo as well.

Campers who have advanced beyond the Orange group need to move into the Yellow group initially. If the swim instructors feel that a swimmer can handle the practice level of the Banditos, then they will be reassigned. This will also happen in the case of a swimmer in Banditos being overwhelmed by the amount of swimming within that group. Please keep in mind that although the Yellow group consists of lessons, it is the appropriate environment to prepare your camper for the Banditos.

We always want to have campers in a swimming environment that suits their ability level, but is still challenging without being overly stressful or intimidating. This is the best way to encourage their love for continued growth in swimming.

Camp Tennis

Campers will participate in tennis instruction four days a week and will be grouped by ability. All tennis instruction this summer will be taught by the NCFC pro staff and will maintain a 6:1 student:pro ratio.  Campers will need to pack tennis whites (colored tennis shoes are allowed) and a racquet each day except Thursdays.

Lunch

A small snack will be provided each day. Please pack a nut-free lunch for your camper, or if you wish you can sign up for snack bar lunches HERE.

Kids Hour

Extend your child’s summer camp experience by joining our popular Kids Hour program. Immediately after Camp, counselors will facilitate a fun-filled hour of games, puzzles and crafts!

Kids Hour runs from 1:00-2:00pm each day.  There are 60 spaces available each week. NCFC camp staff will walk any children participating in a 2pm tennis clinic up to the tennis courts at the end of Kids Hour.

Fee: $50/week or $15/drop-in based on space availability.
