NCFC Update

Dear Members,

This has been a very challenging year for every one of us and we are very happy that we have made it through so far without any positive Covid reports.

Our staff tried very hard to get the club ready in time for spring activities with all the challenges of Covid right from the start of the pandemic.

We had many hurdles to overcome, including hiring more staff and requiring more overtime pay far in excess of our normal budget. We also had thousands of dollars of supplies to absorb due to Covid restrictions. In addition, there has been an increase in minimum wages for many of our employees as mandated by Connecticut law.

So it is necessary to announce a 2.5% increase in our dues effective October 1st. We were originally planning to raise our dues in April, but we decided that any increase at such an uncertain time was not wise.

We have made many major improvements to the club this season, including redoing the tennis pavilion deck, repaving the driveway, and sprucing up the paddle courts.

We also upgraded our billing and payroll systems.

Our plans for 2021 include badly-needed repairs to the pro house: we are looking at redoing the outside of the house and installing new windows, along with upgrading a very outdated kitchen. You might not always notice the house’s problems in passing, but much of the inside is very dated. Of course we can all agree that our staff deserves a safe and comfortable place to live.

It goes without saying that we will always keep a sharp eye on the budget.

Unfortunately, some members have accounts that are well past due. Through the years our club has been very flexible with past due accounts, and I have been even more so with Covid financially affecting some of our members. But starting January 1st, it will be necessary for us to be very diligent in accordance with the following club bylaws:

Article VIII, Section 4
A 1.5% monthly finance charge is levied on all accounts over 30 days past due. All delinquencies will be dealt with at the discretion of the President and Treasurer. The Club reserves the right to post delinquent members’ names along with the amount of indebtedness on the bulletin board and/or the private portion of the website of the Club. Chronic delinquencies will result in suspension of club privileges and, if not resolved, probation or expulsion.

A member who has been suspended and subsequently reinstated shall be placed on probation for a period of one year. During this period all statements must be paid within twenty days after the rendition of the statement and no charges will be permitted to be made at any other club where we enjoy reciprocal privileges. Failure to comply with
these restrictions will result in automatic termination of membership.

So please keep current with your payments going forward.
