5/27/20: Summer Member Update

New Canaan Field Club

Summer Member Deadline

Dear Summer Members,

Thank you to the many of you who have already reached out with questions and your decision on how to handle your summer membership. If you haven’t reached out already, please email me or our Club Secretary, Patricia Geray (office@nc-fc.com) by end of day today with your decision whether you prefer to request a refund (Option A), postpone your membership to 2021 (Option B), or apply for immediate conversion to full membership (Option C).

This will be my last club update to the 2020 Summer members. Hopefully the communications that you have received from me helped give you a better picture of how our club continues to find opportunities to balance giving our members the “NCFC experience” while still responsibly following social distancing requirements.

In the past weeks, I shared updates with you about tennis events/clinics, camp signup dates and our Apple Cart Snack Bar along with our guidelines for social distancing.

Today, I am sharing an email from our Aquatics Director (below) announcing our Club’s goal to open the pool in June for our aquatics programs. We are looking forward to a fun-filled aquatics season! Our great coaching staff is returning and they bring years of experience in diving, swimming and water polo.

The pool is being prepared now. The focus will be on maintaining social distancing while keeping the kids engaged with practices and games to develop and improve their skills in the water. There will be daily swim and dive practice in the mornings, followed by water polo games and drills, and coaches will be available for private lessons.

For the many of you who have chosen to convert, you will soon hear from me with a decision and next steps. For those of you who decided to postpone your membership, you will hear from us next spring. Finally, those of you who requested a refund will receive communications in the winter/spring with an update of the type of membership options that we will be able to provide.

Thank you for your interest in our Club and for your incredible support throughout these unprecedented times. Should you have any questions in the future, please reach out to our office or me.

Stay well and be safe.

Dear Members,

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

At this time I would like to thank you all for being patient as we wait for the CDC and State/Local officials to tell us when our pool can open. I believe Phase 2 is targeted for approximately June 20th. The cover is off and the staff is working to set up the pool and to get it prepared for any new protocols that may be required in Phase 2.

I also want to share that there will be plenty of familiar faces around the pool area and we are excited for another summer in the sun at the Club. We will be offering our aquatics programming, just in a new social distancing norm. Since most clubs will probably be restricted to members only, the Fairfield County Swim League is researching ways to keep the summer fun for kids by creating a virtual dual meet setting against other clubs. Additionally, I will be creating some fun activities around the pool to keep the kids engaged all summer.

I am looking forward to seeing many of you this weekend as the Snack Bar will be open for limited hours (click here). I ask that you follow all protocols for social distancing so that we can safely get to Phase 2 and open those pools back up!

Joe Somma
Aquatics Director/Co-Manager
