Dear 2020 Summer Members,
As you are aware. your summer membership was scheduled to start this Thursday, May 1st. While I very much wish I could be announcing the start of our summer season, including clinic sign-ups and upcoming social events, I am instead writing to provide guidance on summer membership options in light of the pandemic.
As announced in a recent membership blast from our president (click here), we are moving forward with prepping our tennis courts and pools to open in April and May respectively. Specific details including guidelines on their use and specific opening dates will be subject to the directives and orders of the club associations, and the town and state.
Due to restrictions on the number of people that can gather, the Memorial Day party is cancelled, but we do hope to hold events for the Fourth of July and Labor Day. Those decisions will have to be made closer to the dates. Likewise, we do not yet know whether we will be able to offer our summer camp program, but hope to have a decision in the coming weeks.
With all the uncertainty of these unprecedented times, we recognize that you will not be able to experience all that our club usually has to offer this season. So in an effort to be flexible and responsive, our Board has carefully considered many options to best address the interests of all of our members. Therefore, we would like to provide you with the following choices:
A. Request a full refund of your Summer Membership fee and reapply in the summer of 2021. We hope to offer the same Summer Membership program next year, and your application would be on a first-come, first-served basis.
B. Postpone your Membership to the summer of 2021. You would be guaranteed a spot for next summer by making a $1000 deposit today (we would refund $3500 of the payment you already made).
C. Apply for conversion into full membership today to gain full access this summer as we open our Club (click here for the application form). Your conversion application would be expedited for approval so you would have access to the club as it opens this summer and to paddle in the fall as a full member. Your existing $4500 summer payment would be considered as first payment of the initiation fee with expectation to pay the remaining $14,975 by October 1st, 2020. This amount includes the first half of the full membership annual fees ($4500 including 10% tax), capital assessment ($1350) and additional $50 Social Fee for which you will be responsible starting October 1st, 2020.
We are still hopeful that the directives and orders of the town and state will enable full members to enjoy many aspects of our Club this summer. We will continue to prepare the Club, and look forward to sharing it with your family either this or next summer.
