As our community continues to navigate these challenging times, I want to provide a brief update on the Club. The Board met virtually Monday night, and will be meeting on a biweekly basis going forward. While our primary concern is the health and safety of the membership and staff, we are doing our very best to provide as much of a New Canaan Field Club experience as possible this summer.
At this time, we are continuing to move forward with prepping our tennis courts and pool. While our goal is to have the courts ready by the end of April and the pool by the end of May, the decision to open them is subject to the directives and orders of the town and state. Please do not use any of the Club facilities until you receive an email announcing that they are officially open. At that time, we will lay out specific guidelines, including the schedule, for their use.
Due to restrictions on the number of people that can gather, we have canceled the Memorial Day party. We sincerely hope we will be able to hold events for the Fourth of July and Labor Day, but those decisions will have to be made closer to the dates. Likewise, we do not yet know whether we will be able to offer our summer camp program, but hope to have a decision in the coming weeks.
I am grateful to members who have already submitted their dues. However, we will be extending payment terms for members that may need more flexibility during these trying times. If this is the case for your family, I would appreciate if you could send me a quick email. Our Membership Chair will be in touch with summer members soon to provide guidance on their unique situation.
Finally, I have set up a task force to assist with gathering as much information as we can from a variety of sources, including weekly National Club Association webinars, so that we can have the Club as ready as possible for the start of summer. We appreciate everyone’s patience as we work to provide you with more detailed information.
For now, stay well and be safe.
