With the arrival of spring weather, all of us are anxious to get out of our homes and enjoy tennis at the Field Club. However, we must continue to follow the social distancing guidelines established by our state and local officials. Until conditions permit and restrictions are lifted, the tennis courts will be closed to play.
Nevertheless, we are optimistic that we will be able to play at some point, so we are preparing the club to be ready for when that day arrives.
Tim Brueggeman, Director of Tennis, is scheduled to arrive on April 20th. He will be setting up the pro shop and preparing the facilities. The courts are on schedule to be ready towards the end of April. However, before attempting to play, please call the pro shop or refer to the website to check the status of the courts. No play is permitted, singles or doubles, until the courts are officially open.
Regarding league play, both the men’s and women’s leagues are planning to start match play from mid-May to early June. This may be optimistic but we are still preparing. Captains are now organizing their rosters. Please refer to the website for details and reach out to Jim Steele (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Tammy Penman (email@example.com) if you are new to the Club and are interested in participating.
We also hope to provide an update on the pool opening in the not-too-distant future.
We thank you in advance for your understanding and patience as we all work together to get through this extraordinary time. Uncertainty is likely to remain for at least the next several weeks. We will adjust our plans and schedules as conditions evolve. We will make every effort to get tennis activities going as soon as possible but the health and safety of our members and our broader community must remain our top priority. We will provide updates as we get more information.
In the meantime, stay well!
Mike Simko, President
