I hope you are all well.
I have been following the guidelines from the Federal, State, Town and the National Club Association with all the daily changes on the virus situation. We are affiliated with the National Club Association, and they just had over 600 people on a webinar on the status of various sized clubs. Clubs like ours fall into the small to medium range, and without golf and dining facilities the message to our members is we need your support going forward to promote the stability of the club.
I will have a more detailed blast in 2-3 weeks but I wanted to let you know that the Executive Board has decided to get everything in place to ensure that when this virus subsides, we will be poised to be open for the summer.
We are currently about 60 days away from the Memorial Day opening weekend, and with all the improvements we have made over the winter you will see a big difference at the club. They include the new driveway, interior refurbishing to the Tennis Pavilion, and new decking and railing on the top deck. As soon as weather permits, exterior painting will be done. Some new landscaping was installed as well.
We are proud of the special value that the NCFC offers to all our current members and our new summer members. We do need to have our club act as a community within the town of New Canaan.
Regarding the tennis courts, we are still third in line to get our courts in shape for the season. We will hear late next week where we stand on the date they can start working on them. I anticipate that there will probably be a week or so delay to our early programs, and I will have that information in my next blast.
For our league teams which are currently scheduled to start interclub competition on May 13th, the league management is still evaluating that date and we will communicate an update in late April to the players involved.
We will be sending our dues notices out on 4/1 as usual with no increases or penalties, and offering extended payments at this time.
I will continue to keep you informed along the way as the situation continues to evolve.
